Are there guidelines for sharing personal anecdotes or experiences during sessions?

Questionpoint does not impose specific guidelines — sharing personal experiences is a key part of what makes Questionpoint sessions valuable and relatable — but it must be done responsibly and within the boundaries set by our Terms and Conditions, which describe the scope of advice and provide guidance on proper conduct.

You are encouraged to share insights, stories, and lessons learned across a range of topics, including:

  • - your background and academic or professional journey
  • - first-hand experiences with applications, interviews, or internships
  • - details about university life — academics, extracurriculars, campus culture, and facilities
  • - professional experiences, including workplace culture, company-specific insights, or industry practices
  • - strategies you found useful for navigating student or early-career challenges

These anecdotes should be shared with the aim of informing and guiding the Next Gen. Be clear that what you share reflects your personal experience, and not a guarantee or universal rule. It’s also important to exercise judgment when discussing sensitive or subjective experiences.

Importantly:

  • - Do not make promises or imply guarantees (e.g. “If you do this, you’ll definitely get in/hired.”)
  • - Avoid giving advice outside your own scope of knowledge or experience
  • - Maintain a respectful, professional tone at all times
  • - Stay aligned with the session’s purpose: to inform, support, and inspire — not to recruit, promote, or criticise

The video chat sessions are designed to provide Next Gens with a safe, supportive environment to ask questions and receive meaningful guidance — your answers to their questions play a powerful role in that. Just be sure to use sound judgment and always clarify when something is your personal experience.
