What should I do if a user shares sensitive or personal information during a session?
While Questionpoint encourages honest and meaningful conversations, there may be times when a Next Gen shares sensitive or overly personal information. Here’s how to handle it:
- Set boundaries early and politely: If a Next Gen begins to overshare — particularly on matters that are too personal, unrelated, or make you uncomfortable — gently remind them that sessions are focused on Aficionados answering the Next Gen's questions on university and professions.
- Stay professional and respectful: Maintain a composed, empathetic tone. You might say, “I appreciate you sharing that — but let’s focus on what I can help you with today regarding your academic or professional goals.”
- Prioritise your comfort and safety: If the conversation becomes inappropriate, uncomfortable, or violates Questionpoint’s Terms and Conditions (such as discriminatory, threatening, or abusive comments), you have every right to end the session and please report it to us immediately via www.questionpoint.co.uk/contact-us — choose “Report a violation or file a complaint” as your contact reason.
We trust you to use sound judgment and keep the session on-topic, respectful, and supportive for both you and the Next Gen.
